Civilian Security
We Keep Us Safe
What is Civilian Security?
Instead of Police or Private Security, Civilian Security is made up of volunteers who are prepared to act as monitors throughout the event, and support in Emergency Response Efforts to maintain a secure and welcoming environment.
What is involved?
Designated Civilian Security Volunteers will be either in an orange Volunteer Shirt, or in plain clothes. They will keep monitor of specific areas of the event, and alert Festival Organizers of suspicious activity. In the event that an Emergency situation occurs, they will guide guests away from dangerous areas and direct people to safety. If the volunteer is First Aid Certified, they may be asked to administer First Aid to guests.
What is NOT involved?
Civilian Security Volunteers are not police, or bouncer. They are not a line of defence. They do not detain or restrain anyone. They do not use any physical contact with anyone (unless administering first aid). They are only there to observe, alert, and inform.
What is required of me?
Must be 18 years of age or older.
Must be present at the June 13th Event for a designated period of time.
Must have a cell phone on them at all times (in case of emergency)
Must attend a 30-minute virtual information meeting to learn emergency procedures.
